Privacy Policy
Effective October 8, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Ples collects, why, who it's shared with, and your choices. Ples is run by Tyler Cooper, a sole proprietor in Ontario, Canada, who is responsible for personal information under Ples's control and follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Each builder's storefront also has its own privacy policy, which covers how that builder uses your information once you become their customer.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never store your password itself.
- If you sell: what you tell us about your app and yourself (name, story, photos, support email, prices), your app's public address, your Stripe account identifier, and what Ples sees when it visits your app's public pages.
- If you buy: which apps you signed up for or bought, your plan, purchase amounts and dates, and your Stripe customer identifier. Stripe collects your card details; we never see your full card number.
- Security and limits: your network (IP) address when you sign in, create an account, reset a password or start a checkout, kept for up to two days to stop password-guessing and abuse. Our host's request logs also record network addresses for a short time.
- Cookies: a sign-in cookie, a cookie remembering which of your apps you were working on, and a 30-day cookie noting that you found an app through the Ples directory (so the builder's growth numbers are right). We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it
- To run your account, storefronts, checkout, and the access gate that lets paying customers into apps.
- To send emails you need: confirming your address, receipts, password resets, and alerts about your app.
- To keep Ples secure, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.
- To improve Ples. We don't sell personal information.
Who sees it
- Builders see their own customers. When you sign up for or buy an app, its builder sees your email, your plan, and your purchases and payments for their app. Just visiting a storefront doesn't share your email.
- Service providers who process data for us, under contract, only to run Ples: Vercel (hosting and image storage), Turso (database), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), and Anthropic (AI drafting of storefront text from what builders provide and their app's public pages; buyers' information isn't sent to it).
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
Where it's stored
Our service providers store and process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.
How long we keep it
We keep account and purchase information while your account is open, and purchase records for as long as tax and accounting rules require after that. Security records of network addresses are deleted within two days.
Your choices and rights
- You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and to correct it.
- You can ask us to close your account and delete your information, except what we must keep by law.
- You can withdraw consent to optional uses at any time.
Email hello@helpmeples.com and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access limited to what's needed, and limits on repeated attempts. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, we'll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Children
Ples isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy in a significant way, we'll email account holders before it takes effect. See also our Terms of Service.
